b.s.

this post is about bullshit. i may have written about this before. i [try] to prefer honesty and sincerity in place of b.s.. i have three particular examples that are really bugging me. gun lovers who try to make the issue about constitutional rights and potheads who make the issue about fibers. if you love guns or pot it is fine enjoy your guns and weed. don't talk about the right to bare arms if you aren't going to shout from the roof every time there is a slight against the constitution. and if you love paper and rope so much there are probably fibers even better than hemp. just be honest. say you love guns and weed or whatever. don't b.s. me.

hell yeah, hemp paper.

Truthfully I don’t see a problem with listing off other reasons why marijuana should be legalized (other than “DUDE, I LOVE GETTING HIGH”) as long as whatever is being said is legitimate. The fact of the matter is that there is no reason why industrial hemp should be illegal to grow, it IS a tremendously useful fiber in and of itself. During WWII the laws regarding hemp were liberalized and bushels of seeds were sent to farmers across the country, hemp helped us beat the Axis powers, as soon as the war was over the laws were re-changed to make it illegal to grow. We remain a major importer of hemp, despite the fact that there are a great many hemp strains that absolutely will not get you high.

I agree that you shouldn’t try to completely change the issue, deny that you enjoy cannabis for it psycho-whatsative powers, and try to feign enthusiasm about the legitimate uses. But it is completely valid to point out that cannabis is a tremendously useful plant that can invoke a much bigger positive societal and environmental changes than just getting people high.

I think people focusing on certain constitutional topics, while not focusing on all of them is because others aren't as commonly threatened; like the 3rd amendment, tell me the last time you thought someone's third amendment rights were being infringed upon, or better name me an instance in the past 20 years it's been a relevant concern.

Additionally, I think picking an issue or two that's close to a person is actually a benefit to those causes in the long run (whether they be legalization or gun rights). It allows them to specialize and focus their efforts; whereas a person to tries to cover all of their beliefs would undoubtedly see their efforts and causes suffer due to being spread to thinly and a lack of overall results.

You don't see alot of cowboy-nuclearphysiscist-dentist-probasketballplayers-astronaut-spelunkingexperts out there.

though people being phony about the reason they're support causes is annoying.... I’ll give you that, I'm looking at you p.e.t.a! until you whack-os start embracing the rat and the tape worm like you do the dolphins and ponies keep your buckets of red paint (hopefully not menstrual-blood) to yourselves.

You said there were THREE examples that were bothering you, where is the third?

Also, Mark, PETA has embraced the fly, they condemned Obama for killing one on TV.

I'm with obama on fly-gate09, give me a break. The peta representative that spoke out against him was on the radio last week, stating how he felt it was ok to kill parasitic animals like mosquitos and maggots.

oh the third was intelligent design folk arguing ID should be in classrooms, and suggesting otherwise compromises scientific integrity. after i wrote that i decided the two examples were good enough.
